Jakarta, Indonesia Published - President Prabowo Subianto gave his response regarding the resignation of Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman or Gus Miftah from the position of Special Presidential Envoy for Religious Harmony and Development of Religious Facilities. 

President Prabowo stated that the resignation was a form of responsibility for the statement made by Gus Miftah.

"I myself have not seen it directly, but in the report he has resigned. My comment, I think it is a responsible action," said President Prabowo in his press statement to the media crew at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, December 6, 2024.

President Prabowo added that Gus Miftah probably had no bad intentions or intention to insult. However, Gus Miftah realized the mistake he had made.

"But regardless of what he said wrongly, he realized he was wrong, he took responsibility, he resigned," said the President.

Regarding Gus Miftah's replacement, President Prabowo stated that the government will immediately look for the right person. 

Meanwhile, regarding the certification proposal for preachers, the Head of State said that he would involve various parties to provide input.

"Later we will see the groups who understand this issue, maybe later they will give input,"

"The Ulema Council, groups from religious organizations, and so on, later we will ask for their opinions," said the President.
